“Hooked on a Cause” Dining and Wine Dinner
Once again during this upcoming Lenten Season, The Carlton is teaming up with Catholic Charities for the third annual “Hooked on a Cause” campaign.
The campaign is designed to encourage Catholics to dine out during Lent and raise money for the thousands of acts of charity performed each year by Catholic Charities. Instead of “giving things up”, Catholics and all patrons can “give back” dining out! No need to patronize the neighborhood Fish Fry’s every Lenten Friday…enjoy the great fare of a participating restaurant!
We are donating a portion of all of our Food and Beverage sales during Lent and guaranteeing to raise at least $5,000. With your help we can raise even more! We are featuring a “Hooked on a Cause” Special Wine Dinner on Friday, March 6 with a major part of the proceeds helping us to achieve our goal. Five courses (without meat) paired with exquisite wines - including four highly rated Chardonnay’s!
We will also taste the offerings of two famous local winemakers - North Allegheny’s Ehren Jordan - the acclaimed winemaker of Turley and Failla - and a Pinot Noir by former Patz and Hall Winemaker - James McCeney. James will be on hand to discuss his outstanding Bridges Sonoma Pinot Noir and the interesting Winemaking Trail that has led him to Pittsburgh! Please enjoy an outstanding evening and help a great cause! Click here to view the menu for our special “Hooked on a Cause” Wine Dinner menu.

Post-Gazette Suggests The Carlton for the “Overnighter” Valentine
We were recently featured as the place to be on Valentine’s Day for the “Overnighter” Valentine! Read an excerpt here:
“‘It’s business as usual at The Carlton,’ says proprietor Kevin Joyce, who said the restaurant will feature its daily and special menu as opposed to a prix-fixe. Open since 1984, the Carlton is one of Downtown’s stalwarts. And it’s a good bet for an oenophile because the restaurant has such a deep selection of Old and New World wines.
What’s with the sleepover? Book a reservation with the restaurant for Feb. 13 or 14 and mention it to the Omni William Penn for a room rate of $119, a savings of more than $100.”
